Sim So Small

Campbell Family

They say that doctors make the worst patients. That was especially true in Karinna Campbell's case.

Karinna went through seven hours of agonizing labor that terrified both her excited husband, Micah, and her expecting teenage daughter. Jules worried that her labor would be just as bad, or worse. Watching her mother cry in pain only made her more afraid.

Karinna told her daughter it was worth it, though, because after the seven excruciating hours she had something to show for it; a healthy baby boy, Bennett.

Jules practiced on Bennett a lot. She learned how to hold a baby and change his diaper and how to be gentle with a little sim so small.

She also learned the frustration of waking up from a nap to a screaming infant, and then having him fight his bottle.

Jules didn't have that long to wait, though, before she started feeling the painful cramps that her mother had described.

"Mom!"

"Well, here we go!" Karinna said.

Once they got to the hospital, the doctors said Jules still had some time to wait, and that it would be best if she walked around for a bit.

"Where's Wyatt?" Jules asked.

"He's in the waiting room, sweetheart. They won't let anyone but your parents in here. He can see you afterward."

A high pitched squeal shocked Micah.

The contractions became worse and worse, and Jules cried harder and harder.

"Mom, I can't do this. I really can't."

"You don't really have a choice, Julesy."

Before the night was over, Jules gave birth to a healthy baby boy, who she named Dalton. After the nurses took Dalton to another room to be weighed and inspected, Wyatt came tip-toeing into the room.

"Hey, tiger," he said as he approached Jules. "How are you feeling?"

"Tired," she said with a weak smile.

The nurses brought Dalton back and gingerly handed him to Jules. "Want to meet our son?"

Wyatt was amazed by this little sim they created. It was a tiny creature who needed him. He was speechless.

"We're really doing this," Jules said.
