A Different Dance

> Causland family

Ben Causland and Ingrid Burstrom, after years of on-and-off dating, finally married in a private ceremony at the couple's home.

They had a lot of ups and downs in their relationship, and now that they were finally together, for good, they were deeper in love than ever. They spent every waking moment together, and more than half of those moments in the bedroom.

No more than a few weeks had passed since they exchanged vows that Ingrid started to feel under the weather. She called off work a few times, and was nearly unable to keep any food down. She felt nauseous even when she hadn't eaten anything. She had her suspicious, but she hoped she was wrong.

A trip to the doctor confirmed her worst fears. Ingrid was pregnant.
This wasn't how she expected to feel when she learned she was going to start a family. She was supposed to be happy, ecstatic, even. Instead, she felt anxious and disappointed.

Ben was happy enough for the both of them, and Ingrid did her best to pretend to be excited, too.

Ingrid kept going to work, teaching the little girls of Port Manteau in the ways of ballet, but she felt so fatigued all the time. She knew that nothing would stop her from being a dance instructor, but there was one fact she couldn't ignore.

Her dreams of being a professional dancer were now far out of her reach.

  1. Ouch, she sounds like my Susie MacAstral when she learned that she was pregnant and each time afterwards as well.

  2. Ach. I'm not Ben's biggest fan, but I still feel bad for Ingrid! She looks so sad! Maybe she'll change her mind when that sweet little bundle of pixels comes along?

  3. I feel for Ingrid but maybe a baby is not an end of a dream. It's just deferred for a bit. There are plenty of dancer and such with babies. They are just going to have to find a way to make it work.
